Going Beyond Borders is a non-profit organization committed to provide ongoing relief efforts in Africa and is dedicated to educate, feed, and aid those who would die needlessly from preventable conditions. Current projects include Sustain Kenya, which will supply funds and materials to build a full-service hospital in addition to donating sheep and goats for poor smallholder women farms. Going Beyond Borders also collects items for the community such as computers for schools, clothing for women and children, soccer balls and team uniforms. Come enjoy the mountains of Utah and run through the beautiful Morgan Valley. This course will provide a fun event for all ages and abilities. The Turkey Trot is a fundraiser for a local charity to provide the following items for people in Samoa, which is a third world country: Educational supplies (pencils, erasers, rulers colored pencils etc.) Hygiene supplies (combs, soap, hand towels, tooth brushes and tooth paste etc.) Early English readers new or used lap top computers and sewing machines that are in working condition used soccer, basketball or volleyball team uniforms for several villages in Samoa. The items will be delivered in June of 2012. If you would like to donate any of the above mentioned items, donation boxes will be available at the race. Come and enjoy a cool, crisp morning in Morgan and make a difference in the lives of people in Samoa. |

Guest speakers in 2011 were elite runners Jake Krong (2:21 marathoner) and Andrea North (1:17 half marathoner) of Utah who told us about how they became so fast this year including how many miles they run and what workouts they did. They also told us what their next marathon race was and answered questions. They were very inspiring and fueled our passions for running and motivated us to become better runners. They asked us what prize races we would like included in the circuit. Bring a list of races to submit to Larry Alserda, the President, and they will contact the race directors to ask them if they would like to be in the circuit. |

Half: starts at 1852′ & ends at 1605′, 247′ drop. It is an hour earlier in Nevada than it is in Utah, so 6:30 am in Utah is 5:30 am in Mesquite (you get to sleep in an hour!). 2011: Runners must stay on the left side of the road. There is no parking at the start lines for the Marathon or Half Marathon. All racers MUST take buses to the start. Buses will leave from the CasaBlanca Event Center. Boarding times: Marathon – 5:30. Half Marathon – 6:45. Any required changes will be posted on their website and at packet pickup. Energy drinks, GU, and additional surprise snacks and goodies will be available at every other aid station including gummy bears and little cups of gel. Chocolate milk, bananas, and other snacks and drinks will be available at the finish line. The Virgin River Hotel ($35 w/ race discount) is sold out as of 11/8/11 but there were some cancellations so it is now $110 tax as of 11/14/11, the rate for the Casa Blanca of $50 expired 10/27/11 & is now $130 + tax & filled by 11/14/11.
