The top 5 get the following prize money: $7,000, $3,000, $2,000, $1250, $750. The top 3 Americans get $1,000, $500, & $250.
2010: Michelle Simonaitis of Utah won the $1000 prize for masters winners. Lineth Chepkurui of Kenya won with her time of 38:07, a pending world record. If it was indeed a world record, she will get $25,000. She also got $25,000 for beating all the men and women to the finish. The women were given a 4:51 head start. She also won the Hayes Street Summit bonus of $5000, and a $3000 Course Record bonus, for a total of $40,000. I’m not sure how she got the other $7,000, but I assume it was for finishing first for women.
Sammy Kitwara of Kenya won the men’s Hayes Street Summit bonus of $5000 and won the men’s race, taking home a total of $12,000. He must have won $7,000 for being the first male to finish.
The top Americans win $1000. They were Scott Baughs (35:55) of Mammoth Lakes, CA and Magdalena Boulet (41:39) of Oakland, CA.
There is also a Human Centipede team race prize of $500 for both male and female teams, which was won in 37:58 for the men and 48:44 for the women.
